Today I'm a dog. Tomorrow I'll probably still be a dog. Sigh! There's so little hope for advancement. Yesterday is a cancelled cheque. Tomorrow is a promised note. Today is ready cash, use it! Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision. . . But today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present. You always find something in the last place you look. You always have to give up something you want for something you want more. You always write it's bombing, bombing, bombing. It's not bombing, it's air support. You are never a loser until you quit trying. You are never fully dressed until you wear a smile. You are only hurting yourself by hating, since often times the person you hate doesn't know it, and the others don't care. You are young only once, but you can be immature all your life. You ask whether I have ever been in love: fool as I am, I am not such a fool as that. But if one is only to talk from first-hand experience, conversation would be a very poor business. But though I have no personal experience of the things they call love, I have what is better -- the experience of Sappho, of Euripides, of Catallus, of Shakespeare, of Spenser, of Austen, of Bronte, of anyone else I have read. You better think about the future, for it's where you will spend the rest of your life. You can always get someone to love you -- even if you have to do it yourself. You can always tell a cat, but you can't tell him much. You can blow out a candle, but you can't blow out a fire, once the flame begins to catch, the wind will blow it higher. You can call it madness, but I call it love. You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.
