Friendship often ends in love; but love in friendship -- never.
-- Charles Caleb Colton
Friendships are different from all other relationships. Unlike acquaintanceship, friendship is based on love. Unlike lovers and married couples, it is free of jealousy. Unlike children and parents, it knows neither criticism nor resentment. Friendship has no status in law. Business partnerships are based on a contract. So is marriage. Parents are bound by law. But friendships are freely entered into, freely given, and freely exercised.
-- Stephen Ambrose
Generally by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop off, and you get loose in the joints and very shabby, but these things don't matter at all because once you are real, you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.
-- Margery Williams

God loves you right where you are but he doesn't want to leave you there.

Happiness is the conviction that we are loved in spite of ourselves.
Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.
-- Rainer Maria Rilke
Having some place to go to is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.
He who believes that time will wear away the pain from love has not truly loved before.
-- Bernard Yen
He who forces love where none is found remains a fool the whole year around.
Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the Swiss. Hell is where the chefs are British, the mechanics French, the lover's Swiss, the police German and it's all organised by the Italians.
-- Eliane Kirchner
Here's to you and here's to me and may we never disagree, but if we do I'll still love you.
How come we don't always know when love begins, but we always know when it ends?
Human things must be known to be loved, but Divine things must be loved to be known.
I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants.
-- A. Whitney Brown
I am not religious, I just love the Lord.
I do love nothing in the world so well as you: is not that strange?
-- William Shakespeare
